T. J. McCance, CLU®, CLTC®

T.J. McCance is a Director, Financial Advisor, and Branch Manager with Robert W. Baird at the Butler, Greensburg and Steubenville, OH locations.  As part of The Schnur McCance Group, T.J. and his partner, Lyric Schnur, work closely with their clients and their families on creating efficient income strategies and building wealth while focusing on the areas of estate, tax, extended care and risk mitigation strategies through their process of building a financial plan unique to the client’s circumstances and goals.  T.J. is a Registered Representative and Investment Advisor Representative holding his Series 7, 66 and 24 licenses and also holds the Life, Accident and Health, and Property and Casualty Licenses.  In addition, T.J. holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) Designation which is one of the oldest and well-respected designations in the Financial Services Industry, as well as his Certification in Long-Term Care (CLTC®) Designation.  For the second year in a row, T.J. and his partner Lyric were recognized by Forbes/SHOOK Research as a 2026 Best-In-State Wealth Management Team (Published 1/7/2026, rankings based on data as of 3/31/2025).

Prior to his career with Baird, T.J. graduated from Clarion University in 2006 with a B.S. in Management and Industrial Relations. He also completed his Masters of Business Administration Degree from Clarion University in 2008. While at Clarion, T.J. served as the President of Student Senate and was a Captain of the wrestling team and a PSAC Scholar Athlete.  Upon graduating in 2006, T.J. started his professional career with Burns and Burns Associates, Inc. as a Marketing Representative with a focus on business development in areas of both Property & Casualty and Life & Health. T.J. would later move on to become a Financial Advisor with LPL Financial until joining Hefren-Tillotson in June of 2013.

T.J. is passionate about community involvement and has volunteered with a number of organizations including formerly serving on the Board of Directors for the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, The Lighthouse Foundation, Leadership Butler County, Butler Downtown and Butler County Housing and Redevelopment Authorities.  T.J. was also honored as the 2023 Butler County Distinguished Service Award Recipient (Junior Category) given annually to a community member under the age of 45 for exemplary service and volunteerism in their community.  He is also a volunteer coach for the Butler High School Boys Varsity Wrestling team and Legacy Wrestling Club.  When he is not in the office, T.J. enjoys anything outdoors and stays active, so you’ll likely find him in the woods, on a stream, on a golf course or in the gym.  T.J. resides in his hometown of Butler, PA with his wife, Halee and son, Isaac.
